Jo Hummel: Safety at Sea
4 - 13 Apr 2019 Jo Hummel's work is characterised by a painted and paper collaged surface on which she employs spontaneous variations of space, colour and form. The hard edged dividing lines, repeated systems and pinned stacks which make up Safety at Sea are borrowed from the geography which she documents at the coastline near her studio on the Isle of Wight. For her the junction where the sea meets land is critical as both a metaphor for the dichotomy of human consciousness and a quiet place for consolation. Read more -
